Second balloon found in Wigton, England.

28th Oct 2015
Second balloon found in Wigton, England.

We received a letter from Wigton, England stating that one of our balloons had been found on 17/10/15. It stated "I found your label while out walking my dog, it was in a wood that not many people walk in. The balloon was burst but I noticed the label. It's amazing how far it has travelled. I don't know how long it has been there or when you let it go. It would be interesting if you could let me and my family know when it was released."

Year Two Teacher, Miss Mc Sorley replied to the letter.

"Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us, we really appreciate it. Our first balloon and message was found in Töysä, Finland and the children were delighted to hear that a second balloon was found in England by yourself. The children and staff were amazed at how far the balloons travelled and were very touched that you replied to us. It is people like you who enable us to make our World Around Us lessons more meaningful.
Here is some background to our Balloon Launch as requested. Our year two children, parents and staff gathered together at our school to release the balloons on Monday 28th September between 1.30pm - 1.45pm. The reason that we released the balloons was because our school is celebrating our twenty fifth anniversary this year. We thought that this would be a good launch of our celebrations and we felt that our year two children should be involved because our topic at the time was 'Birthdays'.
Many Thanks once again for making this event worthwhile."
