Omagh Integrated PS pupils eye up PRO12 Trophy

Young rugby players from Omagh Integrated Primary School got the chance to welcome rugby’s coveted Guinness PRO12 Trophy to their school ahead of this Friday’s Ulster V Cardiff Blues match courtesy of Specsavers in Omagh.

Wendy Rankin from Specsavers accompanied the trophy to Omagh Integrated where P5, P6 and P7 pupils involved in after school rugby had the opportunity to lift the PRO12 trophy and get photos taken with the famous rugby silverware.

As an official sponsor of the Guinness PRO12 match officials and referees, Specsavers is also the official optician and hearing services partner of the Guinness PRO12, providing expert eye care for players and officials.

Principal Anthony Bradley said, “It was a wonderful opportunity for our rugby playing pupils to see the PRO12 Trophy at such close proximity and I’d like to thank Specsavers in Omagh for bringing along this very impressive rugby cup. Both girls and boys are involved in our after school training sessions and matches and benefit from regular expert rugby training organised by Aubrey Kerrigan of Omagh Rugby FC. It was hugely inspirational for everyone to see and hold such a prestigious trophy!”

The Specsavers store in Omagh will continue the rugby theme this Saturday (24 October) when they welcome Ulster Rugby star Ian Humphreys alongside Tyrone GAA’s Mickey Harte to celebrate their newly revamped and expanded Specsavers store in Market Street.

The high profile sporting stars will officially open the refurbished Specsavers store at 1.30pm and both Ian and Mickey will be in the Omagh store from 1pm until 3pm to meet and greet rugby and Gaelic fans and sign autographs.

Omagh Specsavers will also have a programme of family entertainment and staff will raffle Mickey Harte and Ian Humphreys signed Gaelic and rugby balls with proceeds raised going to charity.

Omagh Specsavers store director Emma Finn said, “We’re looking forward to an exciting afternoon this Saturday in our newly finished store. We’re pleased to have such well-known and respected sporting stars as Mickey Harte and Ian Humphreys as our guests of honour and look forward to giving everyone a very special welcome.”
