⭐️ Year 2/3 learning in the great outdoors ⭐️
Maria Montessori, the acclaimed educator, once said, “When the child goes out, it is the world itself that offers itself to them. Let us take the child out to show them real things instead of making objects which represent ideas and closing them in cupboards.”
She believed so much in learning outdoors, highlighting benefits such as:
⭐️ allowing children to practice grace and courtesy, learning there are different ways to behave in different places and for different activities;
⭐️ helping children get to know the world around them and the interconnectedness of nature; and
⭐️ bringing the classroom learning to the real world, allowing children to apply learned concepts in a manner that is meaningful to them, which gives them confidence and builds independence.
✅ Our Year 2/3 children have many outdoor learning experiences and have reaped the many benefits this brings. Here’s a little snippet of some of our recent activities.
