Paired Reading in Year 4

3rd Oct 2017

A six week programme of Paired Reading kicks off in Year 4 on Monday 9th October. Children can step out of the formal reading scheme and apply their reading skills to real books for six weeks. A selection of new, exciting books from different authors and from many genres will capture your child's enthusiasm as they get to pick their own books with some support when necessary.

Paired Reading is a simple technique that parents can use to help their own child with reading practice. The method involves the parent, who is a skilled reader and the child, who is learning, reading a book together. It is a child centred approach, as it motivates children to want to read for meaning and pleasure.

You and your child will be :

  • Working together.
  • In partnership.
  • Enjoying books.
  • Sharing success.

Children love parents to take an interest in what thy are doing, and your help can make a BIG difference.

This programme has been running for many years in OIPS with proven success for many pupils. Enjoy this opportunity to spend quality time with your child while nurturing a life-long love of reading!
